The researcher Estanislao Pujades from the group Groundwater and Hydrogeochemistry has obtained the 2020 Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award, granted by the European Geosciences Union (EGU), Europe’s leading organisation for Earth, planetary and space sciences.
Pujades obtained the award last year, highlighting in the division of Energy, Resources and Environment. He has been mentioned since he earned his PhD as a significant contributor to the understanding of the hydrogeochemical changes that occur during operation of Underground Pumped Storage Hydropower (UPSH) plants using abandoned mines. His innovative research in this field has allowed the development of advanced modelling techniques and analytical solutions to evaluate the performance and environmental impacts of UPSH.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the prize ceremony and the speech couldn’t be held last year, but it will be celebrated on 19th April.
We congratulate our colleague Estanislao Pujades for his prize and recognition for his work.
