Cover of the ‘Women and Water: A Natural Relationship’ book that portrays the women’s roles as managers, scientists, and even protectors in defense of waters.

The IDAEA researchers Miguel Cañedo-Argüelles and Núria Catalan have participated in the book Mujer y Agua: Una relación natural (Woman and Water: A Natural Relationship), edited by María Isabel Castro Rebolledo and Jeimmy Milena Walteros Rodríguez from the University La Salle, Bogotá (Colombia).

This book exalts women’s roles for their knowledge and capacities as managers, scientists, and even protectors in defense of water, the environment, and the communities in the territory. The text is divided into three parts: 1) women and action for water, 2) women and science, and 3) ecofeminism; in which the role of women as articulators of processes and a bridge between science, academia, and society is highlighted.

“We reviewed the role of women in international limnology and it is based on the “Women in Limnology” exhibition designed by the Gender Comission of the Iberian Association of Limnology”, explains Miguel Cañedo about their contribution to the Chapter 6 “Limnologists: passion for the study of continental waters”.

This work is a collective invitation to provide comprehensive alternatives to resolving environmental problems and conflicts, where water is usually a focus of interest. The book extends an invitation to take on challenges and undertake adaptation actions in times of change.
