The researcher María Cruz Minguillón, from the group EGAR, has recently received the Young Female Scientst Talent Award 2021 (Premio al Joven Talento Científico Femenino), given by MasterCard and Fundación Real Academia de Ciencias de España (FRACE) in Madrid. The €2.500 will contribute to continue her scientific development.

Minguillón has been awarded in the category of Biology and Geology for her research on air quality in both outdoor and indoor environments, as well as the impact of the implementation of mitigation measures of quality air. “It is an honour to receive the award, which recognizes my constant effort during many years dedicated to science”, ensures Minguillón. She also was the co-author, together with Xavier Querol, of the CSIC manual to reduce the contagion risk of COVID-19 in classrooms.

The other three award-winning researchers were Isabel Molino in Mathematics, for her contribution to poverty and inequality indicators generated from data and statistics; Elsa Prada in Physics and Chemistry, for her relevant contribution to the study of condensed matter; and Andrea González-Montoro in the category of Applications of Science to Technology, for her research, design, implementation, and improvement of the instrumentation related to the Positron Emission Tomography scans.
