Today, the IDAEA Strategic Project and Fundraising Officer, Mercè Ratera, is attending the Foro Transfiere 2023 in Málaga to present the ceramic passive sampler for monitoring water contaminants. As part of the SOMMa Alliance, IDAEA participates in the forum from February 15 to 17 in collaboration with the State Research Agency (AEI, in Spanish), an agency of the Ministry of Science and Innovation that promotes scientific and technical research, which is also the funding entity of the 65 Centers of Excellence Severo Ochoa and the Units of Excellence María de Maeztu that currently make up the alliance.
Transfiere is the European Forum for Science, Technology, and Innovation. It brings together the leading players in the Spanish R+D+i system and is focused on transferring knowledge and promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors, as well as research and innovation.
The ceramic passive sampler has been developed by the IDAEA researcher Sílvia Lacorte. The sampler is a porous ceramic cylinder with a polymeric adsorbent inside that allows pre-concentration of water contaminants with high enrichment factors. The advantages of this sampler are:
– Multi-residual analysis of contaminants in water at trace levels
– Easy installation, does not require specialized personnel
– They do not need any power source
– Analysis in scientific or commercial laboratories
– Affordable and reusable systems
IDAEA will be present today at Stand C6 Área Gobierno up until 17h.
