The Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) launches 14 strategic topics to coordinate cutting-edge and multidisciplinary research teams that expand the frontiers of knowledge in areas such as the origin of life, the matter composition of matter, the space exploration, the brain function, energy transition, global society and the impact of global change, among others.
The organization presents the White Book Scientific Challenges 2030 (Libro Blanco Desafíos Científicos), which channels the scientific advances of CSIC towards the understanding and resolution of major global challenges.
The Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC) has participated in the elaboration of some chapters of these 14 challenges:
- Challenge 7 – Global Change, with the contribution of Jordi Dachs.
- Challenge 13 – Ocean, with the coordination of Jordi Dachs and contribution of Maria Vila Costa, Marinella Farré, Joan Grimalt, Benjamí Piña and Cinta Porte.
- Challenge 14 – Dynamic Earth, with the participation of Mar Viana, Francesc Gallart, Josep Maria Soler, Xavier Querol and Teresa Moreno.
