The Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February) with several activities to promote and raise the visibility of female scientists.
Together with the Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC) and as an activity of the project CSIC4Girls, the researchers Maria Ricart, Laia Josa and Anna Duran gave a talk to seven school classes of Barcelona and Ibiza (“L’apassionant història de les dones darrere dels grans descobriments de la ciència”). They draw attention to history of women who made great contributions to science, also showing to the students the daily work of a chemist in the lab. After the enjoyable talk, the children could ask the researchers many different questions.

Researchers Núria Trilla and Gemma Casas went to a highchool to talk about their work in the ANTOM project and raise awareness about women in oceanographic and polar campaings.
