A study by the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC) has analyzed the presence of placticiser compounds in face masks used to reduce the airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2. Published in Environment International, the work led by the researcher shows that concentrations of plasticisers remain below risk values for human health.
The work conducted by Julio Fernández Arribas, Teresa Moreno, Rafael Bartrolí, and led by the researcher Ethel Eljarrat recommends using reusable cloth masks in outdoor spaces, and FFP2 mask in indoor spaces.
