The latest session of the project Las chicas son de ciencias (CSIC4Girls) took place last Sunday February 7, and brought together more than 50 girls to participate in two workshops: “The chemistry that surround us”, given by the IQAC researchers Laia Josa, Maria Ricart and Anna Duran; and “The energy under our feet”, given by the IDAEA researcher Víctor Vilarrasa.

Live-streamed via zoom, the girls could learn about chemical reactions and geothermal energy by doing practical experiments, such as constructing a lava lamp or a volcano.

CSIC4Girls is co-organized together with the Institute of Advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC) and funded by the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y Tecnología (FECYT), aims at promoting scientific careers among female students between 6 and 12 years old.
